Society of Indian Origami Artists

Overview

The Society of Indian Origami Artists is an independent national institution committed to the advancement, documentation, and formal recognition of origami as both a fine art and a rigorous discipline within India.

SIOA approaches paper folding not as a pastime but as a structured practice at the intersection of mathematics, craftsmanship, and artistic expression — providing the infrastructure, platform, and community for practitioners at every stage of their journey.

What We Offer

Explore SIOA's pillars — curated knowledge, practical tools, competition, and a living community of artists from across India.

National Origami Competition

VAGH 2026 is the inaugural national origami competition established by the Society of Indian Origami Artists. Designed as a foundational, long-term initiative rather than a singular event, it aims to cultivate a professional, artist-focused, and highly respected origami culture within India.

The competition shifts the paradigm away from pure technical complexity, prioritising instead the fundamental pillars of the Art, precision, execution, and artistic maturity. Participants are free to submit any model of their choice, and a beautifully folded simple work is evaluated with equal seriousness to an advanced technical piece.
